With Abodo Vulcan Cladding in Protector - Nero, this pre-fabricated structure by Canadian firm pre-form fits within any environment.
Aside from having multiple uses, this pre-fabricated structure by Alberta-based pre-form is designed to fit within many different environments, from a suburban backyard to the depths of a forest, in part due to the subtlety of the Abodo Vulcan Cladding in Protector - Nero.
Based in the Canadian city of Calgary, pre-form is a design and construction firm with an eco-friendly ethos and a focus on creating multi-purpose prefabricated structures with style. Their initial offering, Form 001, is an approximately 10m2 structure that can be delivered on site ready to be created into any number of spaces, from a guest room or an office, to an art studio or a teenager’s escape pad.
The architecture of the structure, with its sloped roof and large windows, gives Form 001 a contemporary aesthetic, while the ink black exterior cladding made from Abodo Vulcan timber ensures it will fit within a wide variety of contexts.
“We aimed to create a space which would be representative of where we live, one that could fit in effortlessly with its surroundings, whether on the Prairies or in the Rocky Mountains, and be as comfortable in the backyard of a century home as a contemporary one,” says pre-form founder James Robinson.
This modus operandi led to the company wanting to clad the structure in a material that would embrace the process of aging rather than resisting it, says James.
“This led us to Abodo. The company's ethos aligned with ours, and their Vulcan Cladding was fundamental in creating a space that is both sustainable and durable.
The stability of the materials also lent itself to the construction
of a concealed clad door, a feature we were adamant about and felt
enhances the experience of the space.”
Vulcan has also been used for the decking for Form 001, giving a cohesive look to the building.
Pre-form is looking to expand their offerings with some ideas in the pipeline for larger living spaces and self-contained structures as well as a greenhouse and sauna, all of which will be created using Abodo eco-timber products.
